Salad & Soup Sprinkles

Salad and soup sprinkles can also be used to garnish and enhance fresh salads as well as prepared soups. Novel appearance combined with excellent flavour delivery and enhanced eating characteristics make them ideal accompaniments for these types of applications as well as many others.
Chaucer Foods has produced 2 product ranges that can enhance the taste, texture and visual appearance of salads & soups.

In many instances, these are packed in small sachets and included in pre-packed salads along with other types of salad dressing such as mayonnaise or liquid sauces. Snippets and sprinkles are also packed and sold in retail and catering-type formats.

What are snippets?

Snippets are small chips or crunchy granules of bread that are coated in oil and flavoured to form interesting garnishes and accompaniments. Bacon Bits are the most popular form of snippets and are available in numerous salad bars as well as being sold in retail packs. The most popular products in the Chaucer Food's range are:

In most other applications, snippets are included as a component of sprinkles along with other visual and flavour enhancing ingredients.

What are sprinkles?

Sprinkles are blends of various sizes and flavours of croutons and snippets, mixed together with other visual and flavour enhancing ingredients such as dehydrated and freeze dried vegetables, herbs, spices, fruits and many others. As complete garnishes they are colourful and appealing and add texture, flavour and strong visual appearance to salads as well as soups and a wide variety of other convenience foods.

New flavours and varieties can be formulated to specific customer requirement (subject to minimum order requirements).
Chaucer Foods can also offer custom blends of other ingredients with healthy eating appeal which are becoming increasingly popular in salad applications. E.g. roasted pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds, perhaps blended with seasonal fruits such as cranberries, pear and apple.

What bread type?

Snippets and sprinkles are produced from speciality formulated white breads. They are therefore derived from wheat flour in contrast to some products on the market, which are based on soya, giving rise to potential issues with GMOs and allergen complications.

What packaging?

Snippets and sprinkles are packed by Chaucer in a wide variety of packing formats. These include sachets of 10g to 1kg up to bulk quantities of 500kg. A wide variety of packaging formats are available in between these weight sizes.
Chaucer Foods has the capability to pack salad & soup sprinkles in a number of retail and food service-type formats depending on customer requirement.

What shelf life?

Snippets and sprinkles have a typical shelf life of 12 months stored under normal storage conditions avoiding heat and direct sun light. When packed in clear sachets, they have a shelf life of 3 months.

What quality assurance?

Chaucer Food's quality assurance team take pride in ensuring all products are delivered to customers in optimum condition.
All production batches are assessed by a daily taste panel against organoleptic standards for taste texture and product appearance.
All products are tested to ensure conformance to microbiological standards.
All deliveries of oil are tested for conformance to specification for peroxide values and lauric acid levels (important indicators of oil quality and shelf life).
